My brother has a son who has a minor form of autism, but still, he has it. As such, I have been very much holding on putting this article together as people are highly sensitive to this disease.

I also do not like the word ‘disease’ to quantify someone that has autism. It is more of a disorder or syndrome than a disease or sickness.

I asked my brother about me writing a small piece about autism. I was surprised about his reaction. He was very happy and supportive. The reason?

He did not know what his son has and he wished he could have read about it earlier. If he would have, then he would have been able to get help and provide the most appropriate for his.

Therefore, this article is dedicated to my nephew who I dearly love.

Autism can get in the way of social acceptance

How to detect early signs of autism

It is a difficult question to answer and I shall not aim to do so. However, what you need to be aware of is that each person, each child shows different signs of autism differently.

Nevertheless, most of the symptoms for autistic children can fit into 4 main categories. Below I explain each category to help you identify the signs and take appropriate action. Below is a video from a boy with autism explaining what is like to be having this syndrome.

1- Difficulty in communicating with others

You can identify this in a many different ways. One of the most frequent ways is when your child is not able to have full conversations.

In this case, your child may decide to use hand gestures instead of words. This is a clear sign of autism. You may find the following communication signs of autism of interest:

  • There are times that your child will not speak and he may not reach any of the standard language milestones. Check with a professional if this is the case
  • When a child speak with frequent rhyming and this rhyming does not make any sense to you, then it is almost guaranteed that your child has autism
  • A lot of individuals with autism like to repeat sounds. They also like to repeat some words, or phrases, especially the ones that they heard from a TV show or read a book
  • At times, a child with autism will not speak about himself with the ‘I’ but more calling himself as a ‘you’
  • They at times try to avoid a subject of a conversation by not focusing on the part you are referring to. For instance, if you speak about a spoon, your child may avoid looking at the spoon on purpose. If this is repetitive, then your child could have autism.

2- Difficulty interacting socially

I have to say that this could be the easiest way to identify if your child is a victim of autism. In essence, a large percentage of children with autism have unsocial behavior.

In fact, they try to avoid all type of social interaction with strangers. Here is a list of things you need to watch for:

  • If your child aim to isolate himself from the crowd or friends
  • Under most conditions, if he shows no signs of sympathy or empathy for others, then he may be a victim of autism
  • When you want your child to play and he prefers to play on his own instead of with other young children of his age, then there is a need for you to get professional advice right away
  • Every child should be able to make friends easily. If your child has difficulty in doing so, then he may be a victim of autism
  • Children are really good at eye contact. If your child does not do this, it may be because he is affected by the syndrome
  • Not reacting to smiling advances from others or friendly discussions is a strong sign

3- Sensitivity to sensory stimulation

Some children which have autism may display some very unusual reactions when you stimulate them.

For instance, they can overreact where there is no need for that, or under react when you should expect a strong reaction. Below I summarize a couple of the symptoms related to the child senses:

  • The extreme tolerance for pain or your child may have a very tolerance for pain
  • Either your child is highly sensitive or displays an unusually low sensitivity to taste. He may also display extreme sensitivity to sounds, smells, sights and touch sense.
  • One of the most common symptoms of autism is the unusual responses to regular noises. Even when these sounds are not really loud), your child may cover his ears and start mentioning that the sounds are too loud and hurt him
  • Your child may have no real interest in interacting with you such as giving hugs or other forms of kindness and love towards the parents and brothers or sisters.
  • Weird way of interacting with common objects — For instance, your child may decide to taste, touch, and/or smell an object to investigate its properties

4- Behavioral problems

This is very common and I think most of us relate to autism through behavioral problems. These include:

  • Autistic behavior englobes aggressivity towards others
  • There are signs that cannot be ignored such as repetitive motions. Think of twirling or rocking, then your child may have autism
  • High interest in a small number of games and only a few restrained number of activities
  • Try to resist any change and experience new type of activities
  • Not able to concentrate and paying attention to the surrounding
  • You child can show signs of withdrawing from others, being extremely quiet and isolate himself, or quite the opposite where they display signs of being highly active
  • Your child keep acting with tantrums

What can you do about autism?

What you should be doing if you notice any of the above signs is to get professional advice.

Do not panic, just speak it through with a professional. If you are unsure, then seek a second professional advice.

What you need to know is that there is no treatment for autism at this time. However, detecting early the symptoms can help your child.

With some help from experts, your child could learn how to live a relatively successful life. The sooner you detect the syndrome, the better for your child.

Conclusion

It is important that you know about autism. You need to remember that the number of cases is increasing from between 10 to 17 percent each year.

As we are currently not able to effectively detect autism, then experts rely on parents and friends to identify this syndrome.

As such, and with the above 4 main categories and methods, you should be able to tell if your child falls in the autism group. If so, try to help your child journey in living a successful life by gaining the support from an expert.

You’ll be glad when you’ll see your child feeling good and being happy. There is nothing wrong in being autistic, but there is everything wrong in denying it!

I have been a victim of asthma for decades and I  know how much it hurts. Especially at night when you are in bed. You are hardly able to breathe. This is why I decided to put together this short to the point list of 11 magical essential oils for asthma.

What you will find in my list is all of the different types of oil that I used to reduce my chest pain. I have to say that we are all different, so if one of these oils does not work with you, then go to the next one.

Only 5 of these best essential oils for asthma did work for me. However, the ones that worked for me did not for some of my friends. On the other hands, the ones that did not work for me did work for them.

In summary, you need to try these essential oils for asthma relief and then find the ones that work best for your body.

Important note:  The below is a list of essential oil for asthma for children too.

1. Lavender essential oil

Lavender oil has been used for a long time in helping people with asthma disease. It has anti-inflammatory characteristics that reduce the effect of bronchial asthma. In fact, several studies have demonstrated that lavender is key in reducing the effect of asthma.

This is one of the many essential oils for an asthma attack that you can count on.

What you need to do is to mix the oil with eucalyptus or peppermint oil and just inhale it for 5 to 10 mins.

To get the best result possible, you need to keep repeating this for a couple of days.

What I personally do is to perform the inhaling technique 2 a week even if I am not sick. This keeps my lungs at rest and I feel great too. It is kind of a comfort zone for me. Prevent asthma rather than curing it sort of speak.

There is another method you can use if you feel the above one does not work for you. First, take  a bowl.

Now fill it with hot water. Just add a couple of drops of oil to the water.

Take a towel and cover your head with it. Put your head on top of the bowl and inhale the steam. This will clear your airways.

2. Clove essential oils for asthma

Again, clove oil is a natural anti-inflammatory that can help your lungs. It also contains manganese. It is one of these oils that has been out there for a long time and used by our ancestors for many diseases.

These include arthritis, cold, cough, bronchitis, etc., and the one that is of interest to us; ‘asthma’.

Clove oil is one of the many great essential oils for asthma and allergies.

Here is how you should use it. You can just rub the oil on your chest. What you need to do is to dilute a couple of drops of the oil in water or a carrier oil (just a few drops of clove oil should do). Massage slowly and let it rest, you’ll get some relief after 15 mins.

Note, do not stress out. Just calm down and do not think about the remedy. If not your body will react negatively and you’ll get no benefit from this essential oil.

You can always use a vaporizer to diffuse the oil in the air. If you do so, just do it for a maximum of 20 minutes every three to four hours.

3. Oregano oil

Thymol and carvacrol are two of the well know medicinal properties of this essential oil.

If you feel you do not like the smell of the oregano oil, then you can always use the capsules. They are as effective as the oil.

Here is what you need to do. First mix about 25 drops of the oil with some hot water (25 oz should do).

Now just inhale the steam and do not forget to cover your head with a towel.

Again, you can use an aroma burner if you prefer the whole room to smell oregano. Just pour a couple of drops in the burner and let the oil diffuse in the room.

4. Eucalyptus oil

I am a big fan of eucalyptus essential oils for allergies and asthma. The tree leaves and gum are great natural anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and analgesic.

You can find eucalyptus in many remedies to prevent, cure and alleviate symptoms like swelling, cough, sinus pain, bronchitis, etc., without forgetting asthma.

Again, you just need a few drops of the oil in a bowl.

Fill the bowl with hot water. Now, take a towel and inhale the fumes.

It will open up the congested airways.

5. Frankincense oil

The other day, one of my friends asked me what essential oils are good for asthma?

I started to list these and when I mentioned frankincense oil, he stopped me.

He said, WOW, it seems that you researched this pretty damned well.

The reason he did this is that his son has asthma. Nothing really helped him. He then used frankincense oil and the WOW factor hit. His son had less chest pain and a huge improvement in breathing.

Remember I told you we are not the same? This is exactly what I meant. Frankincense oil does not work for me, but it does for my friend’s son.

If you want to know, frankincense is made from the steam distillation of tree raisins.

This oil is full of anti-inflammatory, astringent, diuretic, etc. It is very effective in reducing the symptoms of asthma and a number of respiratory issues.

Two ways I would use it. I rub the oil on my chest or I use a diffuser.

6. Roman chamomile essential oil

Chamomile is a fantastic anti-inflammatory herd. It is also a natural anti-allergic, and anti-bacterial.

You can treat a vast amount of diseases and is especially good for asthma.

Here is a trick for you. I found that this oil works best when you mix it with eucalyptus oil (both in equal proportions).

When you have mixed these two, just massage your chest.

Do this 2 to 3 times a week and you should improve your condition in no time.

7. Marjoram oil

Did you ever hear about Marjoram oil? Well, I did not till a friend of mine told me he used it to relief himself from breathing issues.

It is an oil that is extracted from the seeds.

Many studies have investigated the oil, and they showed that it is effective in reducing the effect of asthma.

The use of this oil is a little different. You need to consume 2 drops a day of the essential oils which are good for asthma.

Do not expect a complete cure, but it will relief you from some of your pain.

8. Lemon essential oil

This is the one that I am not using much of.

Please do not listen to me and try it for yourself.

It is a really good oil for asthma. The best effect is to clean your nasal passage and open airways.

For best use, put a couple of drops oil at the bottom of your nose to get some relief.

9. Laurel oil

This is a traditional type oil. It has been used in traditional medicine for a long time and has proven to be effective with asthma.

It has also proven to be effective in curing bronchitis.

You need to breathe this essential oil for asthma and you’ll gain in anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. These properties will help your cure your asthma.

What you need to do is inhale the fumes of the oil. Pour a couple of drops in hot water and breath the steam.

You need to keep repeating the process quite a number of times for it to work.

10. Peppermint Oil

Peppermint is a natural anti-microbial. The oil is produced by steam distillation of leaves.

Pour a couple of drop in hot water and inhale it through your stuffy nose if you can. You’ll get a sense of relief. Keep repeating this.

Another effective method is to prepare a mixture that consists of 2 drops of peppermint oil, 1 drop of lemon oil, 20 drops of carrier oil, and finally 8 drops of lavender oil. Rub the mixture on your chest and repeat this daily to get the best result.

11. Thyme Essential Oil

Thyme is a really good plant. It is a natural antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic, and antispasmodic.

So, thyme is one of the essential oils for asthma used in children. It can be used for mouth infections, thrush, respiratory, bronchitis, and asthma.

Add a few drops of the oil in a bowl filled with hot water. Stir it a bit. Now inhale the fumes and don’t forget to cover your head with a towel.

You can also prepare a mixture that consists of thyme oil and bergamot oil. Massage your chest. This should ease difficult breathing.

Conclusion

I have given you what essential oil is good for asthma. In fact, I gave you 11 of these oils.

Now you should go and try each of these and find the one that works best for you.

I personally prefer the Eucalyptus, but that does not mean you should too.

The reason? Acacia tree has some of the most wonderful diverse healing characteristics that make it perfect to treat a number of our common diseases in a very effective way.

This is why I wanted to let you know about the acacia tree medicinal uses.

Note: The tree was first named in the 1700s by a Swedish scientist Carl Linnaeus.

He named the tree Acacia Nilotica. Currently, there are about 1,000 species of the Acacia genus (acacia genus is the main family name for the acacia tree).

1- Acacia helps to heal your wounds

Unfortunately, many of us struggle with wounds as they do not heal quickly. In fact, it may take several weeks before a wound heal.

There are several reasons behind this, such as the quality of our blood which prevents us from healing.

This is where acacia comes in. Whether you have a fast wound healing metabolism or not, Acacia can help accelerate wounds healing.

To dates, doctors and scientists have not yet elucidated why this tree is so effective at healing our wounds.

They believe that some of the chemicals found in the tree such as alkaloids, flavonoids, and glycosides do help in this.

Nevertheless, there has been a study on this plant, which showed that the Acacia caesia can quickly heal wounds. The study did focus on rats wounds, but it is clear from that research that acacia has these well-needed characteristics.

It is not for nothing that ancient civilizations used this tree too.

2- Acacia relieves irritation and pain

I am unsure if you have heard about Acacia gum. If not, then let me tell you that it has some fantastic natural sticky type texture.

It is this texture that is used to relieve some of our most common irritation and pain. Within the texture, there are some chemicals that work as a pain relief and inflammation/irritation relief.

Scientists have found that acacia gum is highly effective in easing stomach discomfort. In fact, it has also been used to ease throat discomfort too.

3- Excellent source of fiber

The gum of this tree is full of Water-Soluble Dietary Fibers (WSDF).

These are really good fibers for your diet. They are also really good at fighting bad cholesterol and hence keeping it under control.

In fact, a research study has investigated the gum. This study demonstrated that you just need to consume about 15 grams of acacia gum a day to make a real difference to your cholesterol. It advised that you should absorb the gum in liquid form as it is easier for the consumer.

If you do absorb the 15 grams a day, it will give enough for your body to better manage the concentration of plasma cholesterol that is in your blood. In other words, you’ll reduce the level of bad cholesterol.

I know that you may look negatively at the study as it was published in 1992. However, this is the best ever study that has been undertaken on the positive effects of acacia gum on human blood.

If you think a little more down the line, and if you consume WSDF often, then you’ll also reduce or maintain your weight. You should not gain any.

In essence, the gum is good for your weight and cardiovascular health.

In summary, you need to know that the FDA (The Food and Drug Administration) has finally agreed that acacia is an excellent source of fibers. They went even further by making changes to the regulations.

By recognizing the benefits of acacia, they have allowed it to be used in many foods such as yogurt, juice, cereals etc.

4- Helps with your oral health

Acacia catechu, which is also known as black hair is now being used in many dental products. The reason is that it prevents gingivitis. As such, you’ll find black hair in many mouthwash products (you’ll find the extract of the tree).

One of the good things is that acacia is also being used as an alternative herbal organic herbal toothpaste. It cleans your teeth without being abrasive to your teeth.

Note that there has been a really good study in 1999. It demonstrated the positive effect of using herbal tooth powder. What it showed is that if you cleaned your teeth with this powder, you’ll end up with less tooth plaque (about two-third less).

5- Reduce body blood loss

One of the Acacia trees, known as the acacia greggii, is really good for your blood.

What it does come back to point 1 above. It does help in stopping your blood flow when you have wounds, gashes, and other surface cuts.

Note that this tree is usually found in the USA and Mexico.

The way to do this is to pour acacia-infused tea on your wounds and cuts. You can use a cotton ball to help you.

6- Reduce coughing and sore throats

As per point 2 above, the tree is known to relieve irritations and inflammations.

As such you’ll find acacia gum in many medicines to help reduce your coughs.

The natural chemical compounds found in the gum somehow coat your throat. This reduces the irritation in your throat.

One thing is for sure, the food industry has understood the benefits of this tree. They use it is sweets claiming that it will reduce and prevent bad throat symptoms. This includes avoiding losing your voice.

7- Support weight loss

Acacia gum has something special about it. It has the ability to avoid gaining weight.

There has been a study that involved 120 women.

In this study, 60 women took 30 grams of acacia gum per day. They did this for a six weeks period.

The other 60 took a placebo containing about 1 gram of pectin.

What the study showed that the women that absorbed acacia gum lost weight.

In fact, they lost about 2 percent of their body fat. And that’s without doing any exercise.

8- Numbers of Beneficial Bacteria

Acacia fiber is prebiotic which can increase the populations of good bacteria in your body.

A study showed that by consuming a daily dose of gum, you’ll end up with a higher numbers of good bacteria in your intestinal system.

You just need to consume this natural prebiotic for four weeks to reach a good bacteria level that you have never had in your life. The bacteria I am speaking about are Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli.

It is really good to speak about this tree healing features. However, one has to find it somewhere and the tree is not that common really.

Note that you can also get some acacia tea. The tea can be prepared in a number of ways. Here is one of them:

Take a teaspoon of dried acacia flowers and put it in a cup. Add boiling water and cover the cup.

Wait for about 15 mins. Now drink. Do that about 3 times a day and your health should improve in a couple of weeks.

Risks associated with acacia

There are not many risks associated with acacia. However, I would advise you to check with you doctor if you did not have any form of allergy. Also if you are under treatment, make sure you mention this to your doctor.

Please note that there are a number of acacia trees that contain toxic chemicals. These could lead to you losing hair or affecting your digestive system. As such, make sure you only use acacia that is available in respectable supermarkets, shops etc.

Do not go and collect acacia flowers, leaves etc. yourself.

Conclusion

With these 8 acacia health benefits, I think you are ready to start your weight loss plan. You do not need that much of acacia per day to make the difference.

Fresh spinach are really good for us. However, we seem to forget what Popeye has taught us about them.

I put this article together to briefly remind us of the health benefits of spinach.

And I have decided to summarize spinach nutrition facts too.

What are fresh spinach health benefits?

Fresh spinach is one of those superfoods that are full of nutrients. They are associated with a delicious taste and available all year around.

What I dislike about them is the advert that they have received from the Popeye and Olive cartoon. Though the advert is good in its form, Popeye always ate can type spinach. You know what I mean.

There is nothing wrong with that. But I always like to promote fresh things and if at all not possible will go down the root of frozen or can.

But what’s best? How best to eat them? Read on and you’ll find out:

1- Eat baby spinach

Eat baby spinach is best for you

Baby spinach nutrition properties is higher than ‘older’ type spinach. In essence, when selecting them, it is wise to choose the smallest and most tender baby spinach leaves.

The reason is simple. When you buy larger leaves, these will be tougher and more stringy.

If you buy the leaves, make sure to select the ones that are under direct light. Funny enough, these will have more nutrients than the ones that are kept in darkness.

2- Eat cooked fresh spinach for better health benefits

As much as I find this weird, and if you decide to cook your leaves, you’ll literally increase the nutritive value of spinach.

To give you an example, just cook half a cup of spinach and eat them. By doing so, you’ll end up with three ties nutritional value of uncooked spinach.

The rational is that our bodies are not able to break down the raw spinach nutrients. Go ahead a cook your leaves.

3- Exception to the above cooked fresh spinach

However, the speed at which we are being asked to deliver things is getting shorter and shorter. Here are a couple of examples.

When we have to go to a meeting, we need to put two to three report before the meeting takes place.

To do shopping, we do not go to the supermarket, we want to get things delivered to our homes as we are busy working.

So all in all, the time we can devote to ourselves is getting shorter.

As such we all need to look at ways we can deal with stress and find stress relieved type methodologies to help us on a daily basis.

This is exactly why I put this post together for you (and I).

It illustrates 5 methods that I use on a weekly basis to help me dealing with stress. It also helps a lot of my friends too and we help each other by texting, messaging and sharing.

We share the method we used on a given day so that we remind ourselves that life is about taking time for our souls and bodies too.

Let’s have a look at what relieves stress.

At the end of the day, you really need to take this seriously.

It is like being in a war and your enemy is an anomaly in society.

Stress relieving methods are sometimes over-complicated and I am trying to provide you means for stress relieving in under 10 each.

You can mix and match this and do 2 sessions a day, say 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening.

1- Take a walk – My favorite

I have to say that this is probably the easiest way to relieve stress. I usually walk when I speak on the phone, and it helps a lot when I am under pressure.

So, I do 10 minutes walks every day. I all the stress disappear. I do not have anxiety too.

If you think about it, scientists have proven that if you exercise in any form or shape, then reduce your stress levels.

You will also reduce the production of stress hormones.

What I find great with walking is that it helps me find solutions to my problems. It oxygenates my brain and I manage to gather my thoughts.

The funny bits is that I get back to work (when I walk at lunch time) having found a potential solution to a difficult problem. I think giving a break to your brain allows it to analyze things and connect solutions to problems in a better way.

So go to work walking, get some oxygen, let your brain do its magic, and then discuss your solutions with people at work.

Walking will simply make you much calmer.

2- Music to relieve stress

Listening to music relieves stress – But why does listening to music relieve stress?

Simply because music is emotion. When we listen to music, our mind finds an escape route to all of its trouble.

It just cut off. You forget about worrying, anxiety, stress and a lot of issues disappear.

In fact, our bodies start moving on their own and in no time you end up dancing. So if you do listen to music every day for ten minutes, dance a bit, then you’ll end up relaxing.

Even if you are in your car, just play music instead of listening to the ‘bad’ news on the radio.

You’ll see in a couple of days, you’ll be all relaxed. Chose the songs that make you happy and not depressing songs too. Now it is DISCO time 😉

3- A list to get rid of stress

Interestingly, getting more organized reduce your stress dramatically.

I have a habit. Every day, I start my day with a list.

I list the most urgent things to do. Then I list the less urgent list. And then I use this list to make another list.

I start to list the easiest things to do and then the most difficult ones.

After that, I start my day. I start it with the easiest things to do for a good reason.

When I am done with the easiest things to do, then I have already completed 30% of my day job. This means I already feel good.

As such, I end up cracking the difficult things to do in a relax way as I am not pressed by time. I know that I have accomplished something, so my mental health is right at the top.

4- Anxiety and stress relieve with meditation

This is something that you will need to practice to get to a level where you can feel more relaxed.

I started with only 5 minutes a day. What I did is to sit in a nonnoisy room and started to listen to my breathing pattern (NO NOISE PLEASE).

Every time my brain started to think about something else than my breathing pattern, I re-concentrated and focused on my breathing pattern. I did this again and again until the day I could do this for 10 minutes.

When I managed to do this, then there were no issues for me to do this even where there is noise.

Meditation relaxed me and my brain and as soon as I finish my 10 minutes session, I feel like I am a newborn.

I’d like to repeat myself. You need practice for this to work. When your brain will allow you to relax, then you have won against stress.

5- Make a diary as stress relieving activities

This is a weird one. How can making a diary be relevant as stress relieving activities?

Well, many of my friends use this method to allow them to put their frustration on papers.

They even put down what they want to say to their boss but are shy to do.

What they get out of it is the sentiment and feeling that they have told their boss that they are wrong.

The satisfaction feeling they get provides them more confidence and at some point, they manage to discuss some of the points with their bosses in a constructive way.

This is how they solved their stress levels. This is the one I use the least, but I use a different method.

I start an email and put all my frustrations towards the person that has caused that frustration. Then I save it as a draft. A couple of days later I come back to that email, read it and laugh at it.

Stress is gone!

In essence, using green tea and milk is becoming more and more popular among individuals who want to lose weight. The below recipe is also highly popular when you want to maintain your current weight.

The good point about this beverage is that when you combine both milk and green tea you get a really tasty drink. This drink has the particularity to shut down your need for food.

In fact, it creates a sense of NO hunger.

In addition to this, this beverage is really good for flushing, cleansing and detoxifying your body from toxins.

I have to say that you can lose about 1 to 4 pounds of weight when you use this trick.

  2. I would advise not to use green tea from tea bags. You won’t get any results with the tea bags.
  3. If you are lucky enough, you may have a friend who has green tea in his garden. That’s the best.

Here is the recipe

First, take the milk to boiling point but do not boil the milk.

Second, let it cool down. Your aim is to cool it off to 70 degrees.

Third, as soon as the milk reach 70 degrees Celsius (not Fahrenheit), add the green tea in it and cover the lot with a lid.

Now, you need to wait for about 20 mins.

Strain the beverage and start drinking.

How to use the green tea and milk beverage?

The best way to use the beverage is to drink several cups throughout the day.

In an ideal world, you would drink 1 cup of tea (milk) every two hours.

As your body will start flushing toxins, you will need to drink water too. The best thing to do is to drink warm water.

The day you perform your ‘system flushing’, you would need to drink at least 2 liters of water.

Both milk and green tea are diuretics. So the more you drink, the better for you.

Can you put milk and sugar in green tea?

I just want to make this clear. For this method to work well, you should not be using sugar.

If you feel you cannot do without it, then please do use the strict minimum. Do not use white sugar.

I have to say that you need to eat the flesh. Most of the potassium is in the flesh. It contains about 600 mg of the precious minerals. The rest is on the skin. So if you like the skin, then eat it too.

Note that the skin is full of nutrients. It is full of iron, vitamins B6 and C and fibers.

When you look at sweet potatoes, and if you eat them, then you’ll get plenty of vitamins A and C. They contain a lot of vitamins B1, B2, and B6.

But that’s not all, They have complex carbohydrates, copper, manganese, fiber, pantothenic acid, phosphorus, calcium, iron etc.

If you take sweet potatoes on a regular basis, then you’ll definitely boost your immune system. If you have internal inflammations, then eat this potato. It will help you.

I also love mushroom soup, stir fries the Chinese way, salads, sandwiches, even in a pancake with a white sauce, etc.

They contain vitamin D, calcium, several B vitamins, some nice well-deserved iron, lean protein, and magnesium. The good news is that they are low in calories. So you can eat them without worrying too much about your waistline.

The first thing I need to tell you is that dried fruits like apricots, prunes, raisins, figs, and peaches are full of potassium.

If you eat just ½ cup of this dried fruit, you would have absorbed 755 mg of potassium mineral. That’s a staggering 22% of your recommended daily intake.

You can eat dried apricots as an on-the-go snack. You can also use them in salads and they are some nice Moroccan dishes that uses them (like a sweet chicken with apricots).

Apricots are full of antioxidants. You find a lot of vitamin A (from beta-carotene) and vitamin C.

They also contain fiber, calcium, copper and plenty of iron, magnesium and last but not the least phosphorus.

If you decide to eat a little bit of dried fruits such as apricot on a daily basis, then you’ll boost your eyesight.

You’ll also fight inflammation, and lower your blood pressure.

An interesting positive point is that you’ll improve your immune system (not many know this). You’ll also get a better hang on your cholesterol levels and enhance your skin health and your teeth.

I have to say that sun-dried tomatoes are a fantastic add-on to salads. I just love their little acidity in my sandwiches. Their flavors are pronounced, so it makes a nicer and tastier dish.

You’ll find that the tomatoes are full of vitamins A, C and K. They contain thiamine, proteins, riboflavin, iron and some really healthy fibers.

Eat plenty of these as they are good for your skin and heart health. They do reduce the risk of cancer but can also prevent anemia. Eat, eat and eat sun-dried tomatoes 😉

10- Acorn Squash

Acorn squash is excellent when it comes to taste and potassium. They are known as winter squash and just a single cup of this plant can give you 644 mg of potassium.

But there is a very good solution for these. And it is not a common one I have to say.  It is natural and can be found in many countries in the bushes.

The fruit I am speaking about is common hawthorn.

The fruit is also known as single-seeded hawthorn, or herb hawthorn, in French it is called Aubépine and in latin Crataegus monogyna (don’t try to say it, it is way too hard to speak latin).

Well, if you feel you want to strengthen your heart, the remedy I am about to share with you is very effective for cardiac type problems.

I first heard about common hawthorn from my dad.

We were walking in a forest and he said, look at this fruit, it is not the best one to eat, but it is a fruit that has allowed me not to feel hungry when I was a child.

He and his friends always looked for things that can be eating out of their natural surrounding.

Here is what you need to do. Take some water and heat it up to boiling point (not boiled please).

Now add your spoon of the above mixture. Wait a couple of minutes. That’s it, your tea is ready.

It is advisable to drink 2 to 3 cups of tea per day.

For the more severe cases of heart problems, you will need to consume this tea for quite a long period of time. Do not be tempted to stop. And do not forget, it takes time to heal. So take the time.

Herb Pharm Hawthorn Blend Extract for Cardiovascular and Circulatory Support

First the good news. Anyone can make the tincture of hawthorn as long as you have the supply of the leaves and flowers. That’s all. If not, then you’ll need to get someone to do it for you or buy it.

Hawthorn blooms at spring time towards the end of February and beginning of March. In some countries, they may take a little longer.

When the tree blooms, it is the ideal time to pick up the flowers and some leaves.

To make the tincture, you also need a 90 % medical alcohol (I said preferably 90 %).

If you cannot get some of this, you can always use 70% medical alcohol.

The tincture recipe

Here is how to prepare it.

  1. Take 20 g of hawthorn leaves and flowers.
  2. Now, chop these into very fine pieces.
  3. Put them in a glass container that you can seal.
  4. Pour 1 dl of alcohol inside the container.
  5. Seal the container and shake it a bit.
  6. Let the container stand for 3 weeks at room temperature.
  7. At the end of the 3 weeks, just separate the liquid from the leaves etc. by strainer the content.

That’s it. You have the tincture ready. You can start drinking it.

How to consume the hawthorn tincture?

You can drink the tincture 3 to 4 times a day. For best effect, you need to drink it on an empty stomach. Try to do this before meals.

The idea is to use 15 drops of the tincture with a little water.

When do you see any results from drinking hawthorn tincture?

It does take time before you’ll see any results.

For some, it will take about three months, while with others it can take about 5 months. So if you are looking for an easy and quick solution, then this is not for you.

At the end of the day, we have all been drinking tea or coffee for years and never thought about why it takes any long period of time for it to have an effect on us.

So, we just need to change a little bit our habits. That’s all. The benefits are there for us to collect.

NOTE that I said ONE glass. Not many. So as much as it can be good for you, it can also be bad for you.

Important note: Over consumption of alcohol is not recommended. It may increase heart disease.

15- Blueberries

Fresh blueberries are really good for your LDL as it contains a lot of the most appropriate antioxidant. So if you like them, just add a couple in your cereals in the morning.

You can also blend them and make a nice smoothie.

Note that it will take a bit of time to get your cholesterol level down. So in order to improve it, you need to persist with your diet.

There is no shortcut to this.

The antioxidant it contains is better known as pterostilbene. Pterostilbene stimulates your blood cells and as such will break down cholesterol and fat.

Eating blueberries will, therefore, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Why is laurel so famous?

LaurelSimply because it is so good. It has so much flavor and it can do some nice extra little things to your health.

Let me give you some examples – Laurel is really good at helping you relax. If you drink it as a tea, it can release tension, anxiety, stress and endless fatigue.

Note that it is a Russian scientist named Gennady Malakhov who discovered that laurel has great properties to fight against fatigue and stress.

I personally love roses. They are nice flowers, smell good and have very strong benefits to us. Rose water (also known as rosewater) has some magical benefits to us and through this post, I want to share 10 of these with you. I also provide a video as to how you can make your own rose water.

  • Mix a teaspoon of rose water with the beetroot powder.
  • The hard work is done. Just apply the mixture evenly on your lips.
  • Make sure to wash it off after 15 minutes.

The above mixture will make your lips go nicely soft and a little bit pinker. As beetroot is kinda purple, it will naturally color your lips pink. Who said you need cosmetics?

3. Use rose water as a cleanser

  • Get a small cup of rose water.
  • Add to it two teaspoons of glycerin.

  • Mix the lot.
  • You can use the mixture as a cleanser.
  • Chose a soft cotton ball or other to clean your face. Do not rub too much
  • Do this 2 to 3 times a week maximum. Allow the skin to regenerate.
  • Wash abundantly your skin after 30 mins of cleansing it.

4. Rose water must be used after-sun body spray

This is something that very few of us know. You can use rose water to treat skin rashes caused by sun exposure and sunburns. Here is what you should do:

  • Get 10 to 15 tulsi leaves.
  • Crush these into very small pieces.
  • Pour 200 ml of rose water the crushed tulsi.
  • Now store the liquid in a spray bottle
  • Put the spray in the fridge to refrigerate.

If you have sunburn or other rushes, use the water liquid you made and spray on the affected areas. Note that you’ll get a real cold feeling when applying it. This is normal. But then, you’ll feel relieved and the liquid will definitely calm the skin.

5. Use rose water in your daily creams

You have no excuse for not using this DIY recipe.

Experts agree that rosewater has very beneficial moisturizing properties.

As such, just add a couple of drops of rose water into your daily cream and mix. Do this just before applying it to your skin. That’s all. Was this difficult?

6. Use rosewater to reduce and prevent acne

Rose water is really good to fight acne. You just need to know how. Well not anymore – here is the recipe for fighting your acne:

  • Get one lemon.
  • Press it and get the juice out of it.

  • Wash it off with plentiful water.
  • You should do this on a daily basis for about for 2-3 weeks. You need patience here as we are all different with different skins.

I was introduced to sage by my grandmother. And it was her who always told me that plants have more to tell us than what we know of them.

She got me interested in plants, and especially in their healing powers. But what she always told is that sage is a plant that can treat almost every single disease.

I do not think that the statement about treating almost every disease is true, but I can tell you it is nearly true. Let me tell you a bit more by explaining what is sage and what you can do with it. I will show you below how to use the plant (this is probably the most important part of this post).

What is sage?

Sage has so many names that it is difficult to remember all of them. In Latin, sage is Salvia officinalis and comes from the word Salvare. This word means to cure or save. Now, you know why this plant is used to treat almost everything.

The plant is also known as common sage,  culinary sage or garden sage.

The plant’s characteristics are: it is an evergreen subshrub and is a perennial plant. It has some woody stems and grayish leaves. In summer, you get some nice blue to purplish flowers.

It belongs to the mint family Lamiaceae and very well known in the Mediterranean region.

Nowadays, the plant is used as an ornament in gardens more than its initial medicinal application.

When you look at the history of the plant, it has been used since the Pharaons and by the ancient Greeks. For instance, ancient Egyptians believed that the plant was really good to increase fertility.

What are the benefits of sage?

You can use sage in many different ways. The easiest method is to make infusions or tea. Doing so helps with fever and in exciting your nervous system. This is really good as the plant active agents fight some brain and nervous diseases.

It is a natural stimulant tonic that helps your stomach and nervous system as long as you take small doses (say once or twice daily). It also helps with fighting weak digestion systems.

A number of studies have been performed investigating sage oil. One of these studies caught my attention. The oil was applied on 20 healthy volunteers.

Each showed signed of improvements in word recall and their speed of concentration improved too. Overall, the 20 volunteers all showed memory improvements.

I am sure that you would be highly interested in learning promising results are now being delivered in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease through the use of sage. This is fantastic news, especially so that Alzheimer disease is on the increase.

The European Scientific Cooperative on Phytotherapy (ESCOP) has indicated that you can use it for inflammations including gingivitis, stomatitis, and pharyngitis. This is also true for hyperhidrosis.

The plant can be used as to reduce griping. It is highly welcome in treating several symptoms of indigestion.

The good thing is that it can also be used in the treatment of dysmenorrhoea.

It does further stimulate your intestinal mobility, you get a stronger better bile flow, and your pancreatic function will improve quickly.

5- A very good antiseptic and antibacterial

Among these, 47 responded that they use sage. And 45 defined that they used it in prescriptions to relief some of the difficult signs of menopause.

The aim for these practitioners was to reduce the effect of menopause through the application of sage garden. The objectives were to treat night sweats, estrogenic effect and hot flashes (which are quite common during the menopause period).

How to use sage garden plant?

There are many different ways to use the plant. The most common method is to use infusions. In fact, most of the prescriptions given by doctors are given as tea (aqueous infusion). There is a number of alcoholic tincture prescribed and some use fresh juice.

An interesting one used fresh leaf and inserted these in the nose for direct inhalation. I am unsure if this one last remedy worked, but it was described in the literature.

My grandmother, my mom and now me, we have all used the healing powers of sage. I used it in tea. And I use plenty different teas. I drink it twice a week, as I like to interchange the tea to help my body not get used to a single one of them.

All of the teas I used have different properties. This one is really good for my nervous system and brain as a whole. It is also good to fight bacteria and help my pancreas, intestines, etc.

All in all, it is definitely a complete plant that can heal plenty diseases. We just need more scientists to investigate.

I love oranges, clementines, and adore mandarins. A lot of people still do not know the difference between both a clementine and a mandarin. But one thing I can tell you is that a mandarin has some strong healthy stuff you do not want to miss out on.

What is the difference between a mandarin and clementine?

First, to avoid any mistake, mandarin is not the Chinese language. We are speaking about the fruit here.

Now that we cleared that one, let’s see the differences.

A Mandarins belongs to a class of oranges. You can recognize them because they are flatter on both ends. They have a mild flavor and when compared to the clementines are very very easy to peel.

Funnily enough, you have clementines and also tangerines. Both of these are of the mandarins family. In other words, they effectively are mandarins. Mandarins are usually available from November until March.

I think you know this, nevertheless, let me state it. All type of mandarins can be found from November until March.

  4. Do not pick soft fruits as they may start decomposing.
  5. The best way is always ask for permission to taste the fruit you have chosen and not the one that the vendor is proposing you.

How to store mandarins?

Again, I am sure you know this, but just in case.

  1. First, you need to know that you can only store the fruit for a week. So best to purchase the quantities you will consume.
  2. Second, do not wash before storing. You’ll increase the potential for decomposition.
  3. Try to avoid buying wet mandarins as this encourages the growth of fungus.
  4. Put the fruit in the fridge after a few days if you have not consumed it. They will last longer.

A mandarin in salad recipe

You can eat mandarin because they are low in calories. They also have a high content of nutrients, minerals, and vitamins. The advisable intake of mandarins is between 1 to 4.

So if you like fruits, try and make fruit salads. Doing so will boost your protein level, and make a nice refreshing taste to your dessert salad.

A healthy mandarin dessert recipe

Here are the ingredients for nice dessert – A healthy one.

  • 1 can of mandarin – peeled
  • Get 1 can of pineapple chunks
  • Try to find 1 jar of maraschino cherries
  • This is the easy one – 1 cup of flaked coconut
  • 1 cup of sour cream

Preparation for the mandarin dessert

  1. Drain all the canned mandarins, pineapple chunks, and the cherries.
  2. Keep the juice separately in a large bowl.
  3. Now combine all the fruits with flaked coconut.
  4. Next, pour the sour cream and mix slowly.
  5. After this, just let it chill in the refrigerator for few hours.
  6. Now serve cold and offer the juice separately.

This is another one of the those very nice drink that we must all enjoy to improve our overall health. Here I’ll tell you 7 reasons why you should drink Jaljeera and I will also give you its recipe so that you can make it home.

What is Jaljeera?

Jaljeera is a drink that is very popular in India. It is written as Jal-jeera or jaljira too.  The drink is fully packed with great flavors and body nutrition.

The name Jaljeera comes from two different words. These words are in Hindi. Jal means water. Jeera means cumin, the spice that is used to make the drink.

Most people buy the spice ready made and called jal-jeera powder.

Indian loves the beverage. Especially in the summer and served as an appetizer. Most of the times, it is a mixture of lemonade and the powder.

However, Jaljira powder does not consist of only cumin. There are a number of other spices inside this mix. What you’d find when you buy Jaljira is a number of ingredients such as:

  • Cumin
  • Ginger
  • Black pepper
  • Mint
  • Black salt
  • The powder of some common fruits including, but not restricted to – mango, citrus zest, trace of chili or some hot pepper powder.

As you can see, a Jaljeera drink consumed at a local restaurant can be different to a Jaljira juice consumed at another location. It all depends on what the local beverage provider decide to put as a spice in the drink.

Note: the most important point to remember is that the main spice for the drink is cumin.

All other spices are additions, which are good for your health too.

This drink is really god weight loss. If you consume it just before your meals, you’ll notice that you won’t be able to eat much. Why? Simply because the drink suppresses your appetite.

The optimum way to use Jaljeera is to drink it about 30 minutes before a meal. Now you know why Indian’s use it as an appetizer.

There are times where we eat quite a lot. This leads to some acidity reflux and they are really quite unpleasant. So next time you have a big meal, try to sip some of this drink.

Constipation brings a lot of pain and if you have it often can lead to major health issues. Consuming this water juice twice a day should give you the relief you are after. Now constipation is a thing of the past.

Jaljeera mixed with Cumin are great spices that fight body heat. So if you consume this drink over the summer, you will be able to fight dehydration while enjoying a nice healthy beverage. Not many drinks can to that to you.

I think that if you are a woman, then you know what is menstrual cramps. Some of us have more than others, but menstrual cramps are a real nightmare. If you want to reduce the pain, then sip some of this water and you’ll feel a big change.

The Jaljeera bonus recipe

What I’d like to do is to invite you in making a nice Jaaljeera. It is so simple to make that you have no excuse. I have provided a video below too.

I’ll give you the recipe to make up enough beverage for 4 glasses. Then you can do your own measures. Note that the jaljira I selected today is the one that is based on Phudina. Phudina is mint leaves, so you’ll be making a jaljira with mint flavor for hot summer days.

Here are the ingredients:

  1. Get some nice mint leaves (phudina) – ¼ Cup
  2. Buy some roasted cumin seeds (jeera) powder – 1 ½ tbsp – See below if you want to buy a ready made pack.
  3. Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp that is enough
  4. Find a bit of ginger (adrak) Paste – 1 tbsp
  5. Sugar – 1 tbsp – my preference is brown sugar to reduce chemicals
  6. Black salt (sanchal) – ½ tbsp
  7. Dried mango powder (amchur) – 2 tbsp
  8. Salt as per your preference – the lower the better for your body
  9. 2 tbsp soaked and drained boondi

Preparation of the Jaljeera drinks

There are only three steps to this special drink. Here there are:

  1. Simply combine the ingredients in a mixer. Blend them all to make a smooth paste. Make sure you add 1 tbsp of water to it so that it is paste is smooth but not too watery yet.
  2. Put the paste into a bowl. Now you can add 2 cups of water and mix the lot. Make sure the water is fresh.
  3. You’re done. Just taste it and see if it is to your liking. You may want to add honey or a bit more sugar. Up to you. I like it like it is. Now pour the juice in 4 individual glasses and serve immediately.

Garnish the lost with boondi.

A good tip: Some of you may want to use soda instead of water. Though I am not a fan of this, this is perfectly fine.

Again, remember to serve Chilled. Maybe add some nice ice cubes in it.

Conclusion

Here it is, if you want to lose weight, reduce stomach cramps, avoid nausea, get rid of gasses etc, then this drink is for you. I have been drinking it for years, and I can tell you I do not have nausea ever since.

I do not have much gasses either (why am I telling you this?) – 😉

So go to the shop, get the ingredients and enjoy the drink. It may be a bit spicy for you at first, but you can adjust the measures to your liking. Slowly but surely.
